While running STM, I get some unusual results when trying to open Math Boy's Patience Calculator in Excel at the same time. There are three different methods to do this, which give three different results:
1. Opening Excel Seperately
While STM is running, I click my Excel icon to start Excel. It opens up in a new Excel window with a corresponding new Excel button on the Windows Taskbar. I do an Open command to load the calculator (or same with any other spreadsheet). STM and the calculator both run fine, independently. No errors.
2. Open Spreadsheet Files
While STM is running, I click the file name in Windows Explorer to run the calculator (or same with any other spreadsheet). The STM window becomes the active window, and the calculator (or other spreedsheet) does not open. STM continues to run without a hitch.
If I click the Excel icon and start Excel in a separate window while STM is running, and then click a spreadsheet in Windows Explorer to load it up, same thing happens - the STM window becomes the active window, and the calculator (or other spreedsheet) does not open.
3. Download/Open From a Web Site
While STM is running, if I click a link on a web site (Arnold Snyder's web site, or my version on my web site) to Download/Open the calcualtor, a seperate Excel button appears on the Windows Taskbar, and it is the highlighted button on the taskbar, but the window shows the running STM. If I click on the STM button on the taskbar, the calculator button stays highlighted on the taskbar and the window continues to show the running STM.
STM will continue to run without a hitch - until the final player bust out is entered for the current running tournament. At this point, the following error appears and STM aborts (without generating the TourneyLogs):
Run-time error 52 Bad file name or number
After STM aborts, the STM spreadsheet appears in the STM Excel window and now the separate Excel window for the calculator is accessible and runs normally.
If instead of letting the running tournament go to the end after the Download/Open from a web site, you just exit STM, you get this error instead:
Error starting the program 1004 Application-defined or object-defined calculator
