Payout Override
« Topic Start: June 14, 2009, 07:47:22 AM »

When entering override values for payouts, using the TAB after entering the first value doesn't take you to the second value entry - it takes you to the beginning of the whole next row in the table.  Using ENTER instead does funky things.  Clicking the next field with the mouse doesn't always put you into that field for entry.

When entering payout override values, it's just like entering blinds, antes, paytable percentages, etc... You can overwrite the data that's currently in the text box. Use the enter key to go to the next line (next payout amount). I am not having any troubles using the override function or entering the data. Let me know if you are still having trouble with this.

If I use the ENTER key, it adds a new blank line after that field.  So, if it looks like this at first:

$100
$50
$30

And then I edit $100 to read $120 and then hit the enter key, it looks like this:

120

$50
$30

If you hit tab after editing the $100, it will take you out of that box entirely, leaving you with the top 3 places being paid (120, 50 and 30) and update everything. Alternately, you can select something else and it will do the same thing. Another way to go is to just select the entire contents of that box and overwrite all of it.

Right.  There are ways to get it done as you describe.  However, they are all rather un-standard.  I'm just pointing out to you that one would expect it to work intuitively, but it doesn't.  It should work this way:

1. Select and change the value of the top field.
2. Hit enter.
3. The cursor advances to the next field down with that value highlighted and ready to be changed.

and/or,

1. Select and change the value of the top field.
2. Hit tab.
3. The cursor advances to the next field down with that value highlighted and ready to be changed.

Agreed. I'll see if I can get it to work better, but I don't think I can without major re-work. All of the entry boxes for blinds, antes, payout percentages, etc... work the same way and they're designed that way in part because there is a limit to the number of controls I can put on a single form. By using a multi-line box for entry, I cut down dramatically on the number of controls used. I'll see if I can program them to act as you describe, though. It would make for a big improvement.

Sounds good.  While you are at it, it would be a nice convenience if the top field automatically becomes highlighted as soon as the Override checkbox is checked.
