League tracking
« Topic Start: March 16, 2009, 03:21:07 PM »

This probably goes along the same lines as a major update, but any plans to incorporate league tracking?  I'm not sure of what I would need to see in the program as I don't currently run a league but I am looking to start one and it would be nice to have everything tracked within one program.

It's already there. Any time you complete a tournament using individual player tracking (and your computer doesn't crash mid-tournament, like yours did Sad), the program will save log files in the "TourneyLogs" directory. You can upload those files to StatsGenie.com, PokerDIY.com or HomePokerTour.com.

There is no league tracking capability within the program itself, though. No need to re-invent the wheel. These sites do league tracking quite nicely.

In regards to tournament tracking, what seems to be missing in STM is a way to assign points according to position.  As it stands now, after uploading the tournament results to one of the tounament tracking web sites, the player results have to be edited to add the points.  It would be a nice feature to add to STM.

If you pursue it:  Be sure to include a 'minimum points' field.  Sometimes I have a league where every player who plays the tournament gets a couple of points, regardless of how they place in the tournament.  Only the league members that don't show up for that game get zero points.

I don't intend to pursue this. At least one of the league tracking sites allows you to select/create a scoring method to apply to your uploaded results. I don't want to re-invent the wheel, nor do I want to make SimpleTourneyManager into ComplicatedTourneyManager. If you surf any of the websites that offer advice and information on league scoring methods, you'll find that there are at least as many formulas out there as there are poker leagues.

Okey doke.  No big deal.

By the way, I'm not sure if I mentioned this anywhere:  For the upload to StatsGenie, it doesn't transfer the players' email address for new players like it does for PokerDIY.  Could it do that?  Same with phone number, although I'm not sure if statsgenie has a field for that.
