SimpleTourneyManager is designed to be easy to learn and use. There are no complicated menus or structures to learn. All options available to you at any given time can be accessed via buttons, spinners, check boxes, etc... You shouldn't need to search for long at all to find what you are looking for.
If the program doesn't start up for you immediately, and instead you see a spreadsheet with a logo and some text saying something like "Your Excel macro security level may be preventing the program from running", it means your macro security is set too high to allow the program to run.
Read my Macro Security FAQ for more information.
The easiest way to discover some of the features of the program is to take a look at some of the sample tournaments. They can be loaded by going to the "Setup Tournament" (which is the default starting point) tab and clicking the "Load Tournament Setup..." button on the top right corner of the screen. You'll notice that there are sample tournaments with different blinds schedules, different cash-in options, and different clock screen customizations.
Similarly, you can load different "Blinds Schedules" and "Paytables" using the "Load Blinds Schedule..." and "Load Paytable..." buttons on the "Setup Tournament" and "Setup Paytable" tabs, respectively. Any "Tournament Setup", "Blinds Schedule" or "Paytable" can also be deleted from their respective load/save screens via the "Delete" button in the bottom-left corner of the screen.
When you load a "Tournament Setup", you are actually loading three distinct pieces: a "Blinds Schedule"
selection, a "Paytable"
selection, and
everything else. This is important to understand. Since each "Blinds Schedule" and "Paytable" can be used in multiple "Tournament Setups", the program will warn you if you try to modify (or stop you if you try to delete) a "Blinds Schedule" or "Paytable" that is used in one or more "Tournament Setup". "Everything else" includes all of your cash-in options, clock / timer screen customizations, method and selections for calculating the number of players to be paid, your assumptions for number of rebuys, etc... that will be purchased, etc... In a future update, if users request it, I may divide things up more so that more of the options can be loaded as groups.
