Closing Excel

I'm running STM through Excel 2007. I have set the folders where STM are installed to be trusted through Trust Center. When I start the program, Excel loads, I see the STM spreadsheet, then the program starts up as it should (via the Excel macros).
When I close the program, the program closes but Excel doesn't. I am left with the STM spreadsheet open in Excel. I have to manually close Excel, at which point it asks me if I want to save changes to the file. If I do, everything is fine next time I start STM. If I don't, I lose all my changes, including anything I have saved like new blinds structure, changes to tournament setups, etc.
Shouldn't the spreadsheet automatically save and Excel close when I close STM?

I'll look into the edits not being saved issue. I thought they were be saved regardless because I force a save in the background.
It probably makes sense to have Excel close when you close STM now that the program is started from the windows start menu (that's relatively new).
Thanks for the input.

Saving when closing now works fine. As you mentioned to me, it still stops at the Excel save confirmation box when closing but it doesn't matter if you say Yes or No - still saved. Is it necessary to stop at this dialog box at all, instead of just completely closing Excel along with STM? Seems pointless now to stop at the dialog box.

Unfortunately, there's no way for me to do this, except for new installations (build 5 and up), because there's a small bit of code in the xls file that causes this to happen, and the xls file is not updated (it's where the user's data is stored). Users starting out with build 5 or greater won't have this issue. Sorry.

So when Build 5 is released, would I be able get rid of this by uninstalling STM completely and then starting fresh with Build 5? I know I would have to enter fresh any saved blind structures, tournament setups, etc.

Yes. You will also need to re-register. Just let me know if that's what you want to do and I'll update the registration db to allow it. Note: Same offer goes out to all existing registered users.

Yes, please. I will do the uninstall/reinstall (probably next week sometime) - worth the trouble.

Me too! I'd like to do a fresh install.

You understand that the fresh install will mean any customization you've done will be lost?

You bet. Also understand per your post re error 91 a fresh install should solve my problem. I don't mind redoing as I have nothing but time!

OK. Just delete you STM directory, download the first-time install file and open it. That should start the install process. Once you have it installed and running, just go to the help/links tab in the program and click the register button (I'm emailing you the information you'll need to register.)
Let me know if you have any trouble.
